  74. file, but it is in archived form, and is more easily read after
  75. installation.

  78. downloaded from the Internet then the Virus Checking Assistant is the
  79. program for you...

  81. The Virus Checking Assistant is a shareware program.  This evaluation
  82. version includes all features of the program, and is not crippled in any
  83. way.  You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge (see Virus
  84. Checking Assistant.HLP for more details).  If you like the program, and
  85. wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you are required
  86. to pay for the program (see the Shareware Reminder Screen and help file
  87. for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors,

  118. ===== Installation =====================================

  120. The installation procedure for the Virus Checking Assistant is quite
  121. simple.  The package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  122. entire process.  You will need about 500k of available disk space on the
  123. hard drive on which you plan to install the Virus Checking Assistant.
  124.  
  125. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  126. the Virus Checking Assistant.

  129. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  130.  
  131. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  132.  
  133.    o  Place the distribution diskette in the appropriate diskette
  134.       drive.
  135.  
  136.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  137.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  138.       in the Windows Start\Run command, "a:setup".
  139.  
  140.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  141.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  142.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.

  145. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  146.  
  147. If you downloaded the Virus Checking Assistant from a BBS (or received it
  148. in the form of archive files from some other source), you will need to
  149. perform the following steps.
  150.  
  151.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  152.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  153.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  154.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  155.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  156.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  157.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  158.       the package.

  160.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  161.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  162.       the package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the Start\Run command
  163.       in Windows, "c:\tempdir\setup".

  165.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
